Sears - NOT delivery
Listen to this if you have any plans on making a purchase at Sears that would require their home delivery. Go somewhere else!
On February 23, 2008 Kris and I purchased a King mattress from the Victor, NY Sears store. This was a large purchase was $823. We were scheduled for our delivery on March 3, 9 days from the date of purchase. This seemed to be bit much, but it was the best we could do, so fine. Sunday night after 6pm we were notified of our 2 hour delivery window. Monday, March 3 came and I stripped the bed and clear the path to the second floor Master bedroom to be ready for the delivery. During the delivery window we received a call stating the delivery would need to be rescheduled, a defect was found (I later discovered that the mattress was torn in transit). I called the toll free number to reschedule the delivery, and convey my disappointment. The delivery was rescheduled for Saturday, March 8 (13 days after purchase). Friday night I as called and told the delivery window was 10:30-12:30pm. it was a snowy day in Rochester on Saturday, but I waited by the window for the truck to arrive, when i saw nothing, at 12:45pm I decided to call the delivery number to find out how far behind the truck was running. It was at this point that I was told my delivery was CANCELLED! Now I was FURIOUS, no one from Sears bothered to all me and let me know, so again I stripped the bed and clear the path to the second floor Master bedroom to be ready for the delivery, what a waste of time! Again I was offered a $50 gift card for my trouble and my delivery was rescheduled for Sunday, March 9 (14 days from the date of purchase). At 7:20pm on March 8 I was called to be notified that the delivery on March 9 needed to be rescheduled for Wednesday, March 12 (17 days from the date of purchase). I was upset that evening and asked to speak with a manger, I was told one would call me back- that NEVER happened! So this get me to today, my delivery window was 10am- Noon, at 10:30 we were called to say the delivery was running 1 hour late. At 12:45 that mattress was delivered and then damaged by the 2 delivery men as it was placed in the bed frame.
Now I am ready to return it and get my money back!
While the delivery men are standing in my house Sears was called, get this they offered us $80 compensation if we would keep the damaged mattress, ARE YOU KIDDING? The delivery men left the damaged mattress here and I have another rescheduled delivery date of March 19 (24 days after delivery- that is almost a month!) I spoke with a Manager named Lilya at the delivery department, who was useless. She offered me a third $50 gift card, but I do not feel that this is satisfactory for all the trouble I have gone through. I asked to speak to someone at the next level and told that I could not talk to anyone higher than her, she gave me the corporate headquarters address and said write a letter. I was fuming so I called the Customer Relations Department number that I found online. The guy that answered the phone was very rude, he was not listening to me just typing in my phone number from the caller ID to the computer system to see my "notes". He then forwarded my call to a store, but not the right one, I purchased my mattress from the Victor, NY store, not the Medley Center store. I hung up and called Customer Relations again, I spoke with a helpful women named Stacey who said I need to contact the store manager, Rondald Stritzel. Now I have tried to call the store before, but got caught up in the electronic phone system. This time I called his direct office line, I started to give him my story and before I finished he passed me off with another name and phone number...Ken Tomprowski, who is the delivery manager, I guess. I called Ken at 1:45pm today and left a message.
Where we go from here, I will let you know!
